Blue-Collar CV Screening: Read Duties Before Keywords

Screen blue-collar CVs by relevant tasks, recent experience and evidence gaps instead of relying on job titles or repeated keywords.

Recruiter reviewing relevant duties and work experience on a candidate CV.
A CV may contain every keyword in a vacancy and still say little about the candidate’s actual work. Employers reviewing Bangladeshi and GCC-experienced applicants should use the document as a starting point for questions, not a complete proof of competence. Read the duties Look for the tasks, equipment and products associated with each role. “Warehouse worker” may mean picking, loading, stock records or several duties. Identify what matches the vacancy and what needs clarification. Check dates and recency Review when the relevant work was performed. Overlapping dates or gaps may need explanation, but they should not trigger an automatic conclusion. Ask for a clear account and record the answer rather than guessing. Separate experience from qualification A worker may have extensive practical history and still need a particular local qualification or authorisation. Conversely, a certificate does not establish recent performance. Review each kind of evidence for the question it can answer. Create a short interview agenda Turn unclear CV statements into specific questions. Ask which machines the person used, how independently they worked and what they did when something went wrong. Avoid copying every line of the CV into a score without examining its relevance. Help candidates describe work clearly The Europass resource below offers a useful structure for presenting experience.
